Push on again for new Boston MLS stadium

There's been talk of a new stadium for the New England Revolution for years now, but judging by this Boston Globe article we're no closer to one than we were in 2007.

The issue, we suspect, is money. The NFL's Patriots own the Revolution, and both teams play at Gillette Stadium. That's a pretty good situation for the owners: it allows them to schedule more events at the privately financed facility.

But that economy of scale wouldn't apply to a new soccer stadium, and we're guessing the Pats won't want to build another stadium on their own dime. Hence the delay and uncertainty: no one is jumping up to spend $80 million or so on a new Rev facility. And at the end of the day, we're not sure anyone will.
